HNLMS De Ruyter was a unique light cruiser of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

During WW2 De Ruyter saw action in the Dutch East Indies in attempts to stave off the Japanese Invasion. She was damaged by an air attack in the Battle of the Bali Sea on February 4th 1942 but not seriously and participated in hte battle of Badung Strait two weeks later.

In the Battle of the Java Sea De Ruyter was the flagship of Rear-Admiral Karel Doorman. During hte Battle De Ruyter was hit by a single torpedo fired by the Japanese Heavy cruiser Haguro and later sank with hte loss of 367 men including Admiral Doorman.

This model comes in several parts. The hull is a single piece with the cranes and turrets being separate.

The model is designed in 1/1800 scale but printed at 1/570.
